You place chips on Player, Banker or Tie before the timer closes. The dealer deals two cards a side, drawing a third where the rules call for it, and the hand closer to nine wins.

Banker wins slightly more often, so the table takes a five percent commission on those payouts. That commission keeps the Banker edge near 1.06 percent instead of a free bet.

Tie returns 8 to 1 when both hands finish level. It lands far less often than Player or Banker, which is why the payout is larger and why most people treat it as an occasional add-on.
